The next Kent Primary School Championship  Gala is on March 16th at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, Margate CT9 5QX from 2pm Warm Up, 2.30pm start to 5pm or 5.30pm finish, Margate, kindly hosted by Thanet SC.


It will consist of relays ( Free and Medley) and individual events ( 50m Fr, 50m Ba, 50m Fly and 50m Breast) in one session starting at 2pm.

 Relays are for pupils in years 5 and 6 only (4x25m): Boys Open Free and Medley; Girls Open Free and Medley; Medium Schools (mixed gender) Free; Medium Schools (mixed gender) Medley; Small Schools (mixed gender) Free; Small Schools (mixed gender) Medley.  

1. Small schools - up to 60 pupils in yrs 5&6 combined

2. Medium Schools - between 61 and 100 pupils in yrs 5&6 combined

3. Open Schools - any size (but usually large).

Note - a school may only enter relay events in ONE of the categories above. EITHER 1, 2 OR 3 

Please read the  ESSA medley relay regulations (as the medley relay events are not necessarily back, breast, fly and then free)!

 Details of the KSSA Primary Schools' Championship Gala  at Hartsdown Leisure Centre Margate CT9 5QX on March 16th 2024 WU 1.30pm, Start 2pm End about 5.30pm, are below. 


Both relays and individual events will be held. The top 4 or 5 relay team times in each category will be sent to ESSA for possible consideration for the divisional/regional round in May in Guildford. Kent medals are awarded to the top 3 relay teams and the top 6 individual swimmers in each category/race.

Races are all HDW:  

1. Free and medley relays for single sex boys, and girls separately for "big" primary schools and mixed gender ( eg 1 boy and 3 girls) relays for medium and small primary schools. All relays are 4x25m. Relay swimmers must be bona fide pupils of  year 5 or year 6 BY AGE - no swimmers are allowed from younger or older years (ESSA rules). 

2. 50m all strokes for boys and for girls, each swimmer can swim up to 2 races each and 2 swimmers max per school per event swimmers may come from year4,5 or 6 for the individual events only BY AGE. Results are decided by HDW.

NB. Pupils "kept back" a year, or in a year group above the one they would normally be in BY AGE, will be counted as being in the age group they would normally be in BY AGE and not as  being in the year group they are taught in. Please kindly check your swimmers dates of birth before making any entries.
